Whidbey and Camano islands attract artists. When combined with the region’s special heritage, the islands offer plenty to feed that creative side. They offer a cornucopia of food and wine pleasures, year around, from award-winning restaurants and wineries, to bountiful farmers’ markets.
Whidbey Island and Camano Island are in the Puget Sound, about 25 miles north of Seattle and a two-hour drive south of Vancouver, British Columbia. With nature providing a buffer from “city” sprawl, Island County provides the perfect, easy-to-reach escape. Camano Island is home to one of the Northwest's finest sculpture exhibits, Matzke Fine Art Gallery and Sculpture Park, which features two sculptures shown above from left to right: Crouching Man by Kevin Petelle, and Comfort by Sabah Al-Dhaher. Whidbey Island has several sculpture venues as well including Cloudstone Sculpture Park Freeland Art Studios, and Arts in Langley.
