The annual Painters & Sculptors Grants provide 25 artists based in the U.S. with unrestricted funds of $25,000 each. Each spring, we invite a diverse range of artists and arts professionals to nominate artists at any career stage who:

  • are making exceptional work

  • are deserving of greater acknowledgment on a national level

  • will benefit from the recognition and funding that the award provides

Given the unexpected challenges posed by COVID-19, we recognize that artists need unrestricted funding now more than ever before. We remained committed to awarding Painters & Sculptors Grants as usual this year; the 2020 recipients were announced on October 21.

The award meant so much more than money. It meant that my practice was going in the right direction and all my years of hard work were noticed and appreciated.”
